Mentor

Who will write my letter of recommendation? At the moment, I do not think I know that answer. There are many years, and many people to meet ahead. Circumstances could very easily change in a day. If I would have to choose right at this moment, I wouldn’t choose anyone from college. I would choose someone from home, someone who knows who I am and knows my aspirations. I believe a recommendation should come from someone who can truly recommend you out of their own desire, and not just because you ask them to do so. In the future I believe I will be able to bridge connections with people at the University, but for now I will stick with the people who know me best.
There are many people that I look up to in this world. In fact, there are very few people that I do not look up to in some way. I have always strived to be the best I can be in everything, but every person alive is better than me in at least one thing. Therefore that gives me something to look up to in every person. Even the class clown has at least one thing they can teach you.

  1. I agree that a good letter of recommendation comes from someone that truely knows you rather than an aquantaince. I also like your point that everyone has something that you can learn from, people need to realize this more often.

  2. Haha, I very much enjoyed that final comment, Lucas. But I agree with you one hundred percent. Someone who doesnt truely know you won't write a particularly meaningful or passionate letter for you. Someone who knows you will be the best option. Great post, and good luck in finding these people here.

  3. I agree with you when you say that you should just stick with the people who know you best when it comes to recommendations. As freshmen we don't really know many contacts and we are just going with the flow really. But we shouldn't waste time on trying to meet professors or other people who will benefit for you when it comes to your recommendations. Good Post!

  4. It sounds like you have a few mentors from your past and although they may not know much about your university life, they can be the push you need to drive you towards success & you can learn something from everyone you meet, good point

  5. It's good that you still have connections to people back home. Most letters of recommendation are preferred from a university employee, however, so be sure to start making connections to faculty asap.
